Solar street lights, floodlights and off-grid lighting for Morocco

Solar Lighting Across Morocco's 12 Regions

From Tanger to Dakhla, LALOGO delivers and sizes its solar street lights and floodlights on December irradiation and on each region's conditions: salt, heat, Chergui, Atlas cold.

A solar street light in Morocco is not sized the same way in Tanger and in Laâyoune: in December, the month that decides autonomy, a horizontal panel receives 2.58 kWh/m²/day in Tanger, 2.85 in Rabat, 2.99 in Casablanca, 3.46 in Marrakech, 3.62 in Agadir, 3.81 in Ouarzazate and 3.97 in Laâyoune (PVGIS-SARAH2 2005-2020, JRC). A panel tilted at 32° gains +62 to +68 % in December, except in Laâyoune (+44 %). The night of 21 December lasts 14.3 h in Tanger and 13.6 h in Laâyoune (astronomical computation). These numbers, plus the distance to the sea, summer heat and high-altitude frost, decide the model, panel and battery we propose.

LALOGO delivers its street lights, floodlights and garden luminaires to all twelve regions of the Kingdom, with a contact in Casablanca and a Moroccan-made pole supplied by a local fabricator from our LS-P6 drawings. Each regional page below gives the reference irradiation, the site conditions and the typical buyers; the quotation itself is always built on the exact PVGIS value for your commune.

Six Moroccan conditions that change the sizing

What we check before proposing a model, a panel and a battery.

Coastal salt spray

From Tanger to Dakhla, within one kilometre of the sea, zinc loses 2.1 to 8.4 µm a year (classes C4–C5, ISO 9223) and relative humidity reaches 82 % in Casablanca. We specify the IP66 coastal version with marine-grade coating, an NM ISO 1461 hot-dip galvanised pole with ISO 12944 paint and stainless fasteners; salt-spray report on request.

Summer heat and the LiFePO4 battery

Agadir reached 50.4 °C in August 2023 (national record, DGM), Marrakech 49.6 °C; the mean daily maximum exceeds 37 °C in July in Marrakech, Fès and Ouarzazate. According to a study published in 2024, a LiFePO4 cell loses ≈ 23 % of its cycle life at 45 °C versus 25 °C. Our packs run from −20 °C to +65 °C; inland, we prefer the split kit with the battery in a box at the pole base.

Chergui, dust and sand

The sand wind of the south and the interior leaves a layer that cuts charging: IP65 housing (IP66 on floodlights and the coastal version), panel rinsed with clean water after each episode, instruction written into the maintenance manual. On very windy sites (Essaouira, Tarfaya, Atlas passes) the LS-K wind-solar hybrid kit is an option; pole wind resistance calculated by the Moroccan fabricator, value on request.

Atlas cold and snow

Ifrane holds Africa's cold record (−23.9 °C, 1935); Fès has seen −8.2 °C and Ouarzazate −7.0 °C. A lithium battery does not charge below 0 °C (the BMS locks charging, an industry rule): at dawn at altitude, charging resumes with the sun. We advise the tilted separate panel, which sheds snow, and the battery in a buried box or in the foundation, which NM 06.8.001 allows.

Size on December, not on the year

December is only 49 to 64 % of the annual average depending on the city (PVGIS-SARAH2 2005-2020, JRC): 2.58 kWh/m²/day in Tanger, 3.97 in Laâyoune, for a 13.6 to 14.3 h night. Daily harvest = Wp × irradiation × 0.70–0.75 (system efficiency, engineering assumption). A panel tilted at 32° gains +62 to +68 % in December: that is the case for the split kit in the north.

Theft, vandalism and IK rating

On an all-in-one unit the battery sits inside the die-cast aluminium body at 5–8 m height: nothing to steal at the pole base. On a split kit the battery box is locked, buried or cast into the foundation. Anti-theft fasteners on request, IK08 recommended in the specification (measured value per model on request), and an LS-C100 with 4G camera on isolated squares.
