Solar street light in Fès, Meknès and the Middle Atlas

How does the battery cope with Middle Atlas frost?

A lithium battery does not charge below 0 °C: the BMS locks charging (industry rule) until the sun warms the pack. In Ifrane, Azrou, Boulemane or Sefrou we advise the LS-S60 split kit, whose 12.8 V battery sits in a buried box or is cast into the foundation — which NM 06.8.001 allows — and whose tilted panel sheds snow. On the Saïss plain, summer reaches a 35.1 °C mean daily maximum in Fès: the LiFePO4 battery (−20 °C to +65 °C) is protected there by the shade of the box. An LS-A80 harvests 80 × 2.97 × 0.72 ≈ 171 Wh per December day (system efficiency 0.72, engineering assumption) for a 256 Wh battery. Autonomy: up to 12 h per night, 3–5 days of reserve at the default profile, depending on irradiation and dimming profile.

Who buys in the region?

Rural communes and provinces: Boulemane signed an INDH convention for the solar electrification of 51 douars, 12.6 million MAD, ≈ 247,000 MAD per douar (H24info, February 2026); Taounate, Taza, Sefrou, El Hajeb and Moulay Yacoub equip their douars under the PRDTS and the 2026 Finance Act (LS-A60, LS-S60 on a Moroccan-made 5–6 m pole); in town, LS-H60 / LS-H100 heads re-equip existing poles. The industrial zones of Fès (Ras El Ma, Bensouda) and Meknès (Agropolis, Sidi Bouzekri) for car parks and perimeters (LS-A120 / LS-A140); the olive and wine estates of the Saïss and the cooperatives (floodlights, LS-C100, LS-M).

The pole is Moroccan-made (25 % safeguard duty on imported poles, HS 7308.90.10); the customs classification of the luminaire is confirmed by our forwarder.
