Solar street lights, floodlights and off-grid lighting for Morocco

Solar street light tenders in Morocco: rural communes and douars, NM 06.8.001, PRDTS

December sizing, NM EN 13201 classes, Moroccan-made pole, FR/AR file ready for the specification.

A solar street light tender in Morocco for a rural commune or a douar (rural village) is sized on three numbers: December irradiation (2.99 kWh/m²/day in Casablanca, 3.46 in Marrakech, 3.62 in Agadir — PVGIS-SARAH2 2005-2020, JRC), the target NM EN 13201 lighting class (P4–P5 or M6 for a douar street, indicative selection) and the battery capacity in Wh. An LS-A60 (120 W LED, ≈ 6,000 lm, 60 Wp, LiFePO4 192 Wh) on a Moroccan-made 4–6 m pole every 15–20 m is the most requested configuration; the LS-S60 tilted-panel kit replaces it in the north and in the mountains.

Who buys solar street lights for rural areas in Morocco?

The buyer is almost always a territorial commune (the president and the technical department), sometimes the province, the regional project agency (AREP) or the regional council under a convention. The programmes that fund these purchases are known: the PRDTS (Morocco's 2017–2023 programme to reduce territorial and social disparities) mobilised close to 50 billion MAD for 1,066 rural communes and more than 820 electrified douars (Aujourd'hui le Maroc, FNH); the 2026 Finance Act provides a priority programme for rural and peri-urban areas with a provisional 20 billion MAD envelope, with the installation of solar street lights in douars cited among the measures (Le Matin, 21 October 2025); the INDH (National Human Development Initiative) funds conventions such as the solar electrification of 51 douars in Boulemane province for 12.6 million MAD, about 247,000 MAD per douar (H24info, February 2026).

Tender titles published in 2026 on marchespublics.gov.ma show the French vocabulary to search for and reuse: "travaux d'éclairage public solaire" (solar public-lighting works), "éclairage public par des plaques d'énergie solaire" (public lighting by solar panels), "achat de projecteurs solaires LED avec panneaux solaires pour éclairage public" (LED solar floodlights with panels for public lighting), "luminaires solaires" and "kits solaires"; English-language listings use wording such as "solar public lighting" and "acquisition of solar lamps and their accessories for public lighting".

How is a solar street light sized for a douar street?

The class first. A douar street or an access track limited to 50 km/h falls, under the selection logic of CEN/TR 13201-1, into class M6 or P4–P5; a rural-centre street at 30 km/h into P3–P4. In maintained values, P4 requires 5 lx average and 1 lx minimum, P5 3 lx and 0.6 lx (NM EN 13201-2).

Height and spacing next. With the 70° × 140° asymmetric road distribution of our modules, an LS-A60 goes on a 4–6 m pole at 15–20 m spacing for a 5–6 m wide street; an LS-A80 (≈ 8,000 lm, 256 Wh) on 6 m every 20–25 m for a 7 m communal road; an LS-A120 (≈ 12,000 lm, 384 Wh) on 7–8 m every 25–30 m for the main road through the centre.

Autonomy last. It is computed on December, not on the annual average: the daily harvest equals Wp × irradiation × system efficiency (0.70–0.75, an engineering assumption to be stated). NM 06.8.001 in fact requires adaptive dimming based on night length and available energy; our MPPT controllers offer a programmable time and dimming profile, to be set accordingly (adaptive behaviour confirmed model by model in the offer). The stated autonomy is therefore 'up to 12 h per night, 3–5 days of reserve at the default profile', because it depends on irradiation and on the dimming profile.

Which standards and documents go into the specification?

Law 12-06 (art. 35) and Decree 2-22-431 (art. 5) make reference to Moroccan NM standards mandatory in public procurement (IMANOR guide, February 2026). For a solar street light the standard is NM 06.8.001 'Solar LED street lights for public lighting – General requirements' (IMANOR, 2024): luminaire efficacy ≥ 130 lm/W, autonomy test of 16 h continuous at ≥ 40 % flux at 25 °C, controller and battery with a service life ≥ 5 years, lowest edge of the panel ≥ 3 m above ground, marking (unique ID, brand, year, battery, the reference NM 06.8.001) and a manual at least in Arabic. The clause numbers quoted come from the draft put to public enquiry in September 2024; the homologated text is purchased from IMANOR. LALOGO's NM 06.8.001 file is in progress: we claim no conformity before the test report.

Photometry is proven through NM EN 13201 and an IES/LDT file; IP and IK are 'specified by the client' (§7) — LALOGO recommends IP66 / IK08 for coastal lots, IP65 / IK08 inland. The Cم marking is mandatory (Law 24-09, Orders 3228-13, 2573-14 and 2574-14) and comes with a declaration of conformity that we issue for every reference ordered. The pole is Moroccan-made (25 % safeguard duty on imported poles, HS 7308.90.10); the customs classification of the luminaire is confirmed by our forwarder. The pole follows NM EN 40-5 and hot-dip galvanising NM ISO 1461; our LS-P6 drawings (Q235 conical pole, 5.7 to 7.8 m) are handed to your fabricator.

How does the purchase run for a commune?

Contracts go through marchespublics.gov.ma: the supplier account is free, a Moroccan entity identifies itself with its 15-digit ICE company identifier and its trade-register (RC) number, and a daily alert service on 'lampadaire', 'éclairage public', 'solaire' and the region's name avoids missing a notice. Small purchases can also go through a purchase order (bon de commande); the applicable procedure and threshold are checked with the commune's procurement department. Specifications frequently name a brand 'or equivalent': the answer is to demonstrate equivalence number by number (LED W, lm, Wp, Wh, IP, service life) rather than to argue about the brand named.

LALOGO supplies the technical wording ready to paste into the specification, the FR/AR datasheet, the Cم declaration, the IES/LDT files and the pole drawings, then delivers and sets the dimming profiles with the municipal team.

Worked example: 600 m of douar street in Al Haouz province

Main street 600 m long and 6 m wide, speed ≤ 30 km/h, indicative class P4. Single-sided layout of LS-A60 on 5 m Moroccan-made poles every 18 m: 600 ÷ 18 ≈ 33 intervals, i.e. 34 luminaires, plus 2 LS-F100 floodlights for the square and the mosque. December energy balance with Marrakech irradiation (3.46 kWh/m²/day): 60 Wp × 3.46 × 0.72 ≈ 149 Wh harvested per day, against the 192 Wh battery; the default profile (full power in the evening, dimming in the middle of the night, boost on PIR detection) keeps the nightly draw below the harvest and preserves 3–5 days of reserve.

File delivered: the LS-A60 datasheet, a layout plan for the 34 points, the P4 photometric study, the Cم declaration, the Arabic manual and the LS-P6 pole drawing for the local fabricator. Price on quotation in MAD, within 24 h.

Frequently asked questions

Which standard should a communal specification cite for a solar street light?

NM 06.8.001 (IMANOR, 2024) for the complete solar street light, NM EN 13201 for the lighting class, NM EN 40-5 and NM ISO 1461 for the pole and its galvanising, NM EN 60529 / 62262 for IP and IK. Law 12-06 and Decree 2-22-431 make these references mandatory. LALOGO's NM 06.8.001 file is in progress; we supply the datasheets and declarations available at the date of the consultation.

How much does solar public lighting for a douar cost?

LALOGO prices every project on quotation in MAD, with luminaire, Moroccan-made pole, foundation and installation itemised. As a public reference, the INDH convention in Boulemane province funded the solar electrification of 51 douars for 12.6 million MAD, about 247,000 MAD per douar, without detail on the equipment (H24info, 2026). Send the road length and width: the quote arrives within 24 h.

Do solar street lights work in winter and in cloudy weather?

Yes, provided they are sized on December: irradiation then is 49 to 64 % of the annual average depending on the city (PVGIS). The MPPT controller follows the programmed dimming profile (NM 06.8.001 also requires adaptive dimming, confirmed model by model in the offer), and the LiFePO4 battery keeps 3–5 days of reserve at the default profile. A street light sized on the annual average, by contrast, goes dark in January.

Can the commune reuse its existing sodium poles?

Yes. NM 06.8.001 explicitly covers all-in-one modules mounted on existing poles, and the LS-H60 (60 W, 40 Wp) to LS-H100 (100 W, 80 Wp) heads fit 5 to 8 m poles without trenching or grid connection. We check the pole condition, orientation and shading during the site visit.

How do you answer a notice that names a brand 'or equivalent'?

With an item-by-item equivalence table: nominal LED power, lumens, panel Wp, battery Wh, IP, service life, warranty. A 2026 notice in Tiznit province, for instance, asked for 160 floodlights of 200 W and 20 of 500 W, IP65, warranty ≥ 1 year; LALOGO answers with the LS-F200 and two twinned LS-F200, numbers attached.

Who installs and who maintains the street lights?

Installation is done by the commune's works contractor or by a partner installer; LALOGO handles commissioning, profile set-up with the remote and training of the team. Maintenance is limited to panel cleaning and an annual check; the Arabic manual required by NM 06.8.001 describes the steps. Spare LiFePO4 batteries available.
