Solar street lights, floodlights and off-grid lighting for Morocco

Solar lighting for gated communities, estates and syndics: streets, car parks, common areas

60–80 W street lights for roads (P3–P4), wall and bollard lights for common areas, without trenching or an electricity bill.

Solar lighting for a gated community or residential estate is chosen on NM EN 13201 class P3–P4 (7.5 to 5 lx average, 1.5 to 1 lx minimum, indicative selection for a 30 km/h street), on a Moroccan-made 6 m pole and on a battery sized for December: the LS-A80 (150 W LED, ≈ 8,000 lm, 80 Wp, LiFePO4 256 Wh) every 20–25 m covers a 7 m road; the LS-A60 (≈ 6,000 lm, 192 Wh) on 4–6 m lights lanes and car parks; LS-W50 wall lights and LS-G50 bollards take the common areas. No trenching, no distribution board, no utility bill for the outdoor lighting.

Who buys solar lighting for a residential estate?

Two buyers follow one another. The developer, during servicing works, who must hand over lit roads and wants to avoid the trench, the cable, the board and the lighting meter. Then the syndic or owners' association, which takes over the common areas and pays every month for the street lights, stairwell lights, gates and visitor car park — on ONEE's low-voltage domestic and private-lighting tariff, which reaches 1.5958 MAD/kWh incl. tax above 500 kWh per month with selective billing on the tranche reached (ONEE, 2026).

Add to these the gated communities and clustered villas (syndic-run lighting, paths, guard posts), neighbourhood associations equipping a road the commune has not taken over, and managers of compounds who want a street and car-park solar light independent of the grid. If the roads are to be handed over to the commune, it is prudent to equip them from the start with the references the municipal technical department will ask for: NM 06.8.001 and NM EN 13201.

How is solar lighting sized for estate roads?

Width and speed set the class: a 6–7 m residential street limited to 30 km/h falls into class P3 or P4 under the CEN/TR 13201-1 logic; a footpath or residential car park into P4–P5. On these classes an LS-A80 on a 6 m pole gives 20–25 m spacing with the 70° × 140° distribution; an LS-A60 on 5 m, 15–20 m; a compact LS-A50C (≈ 5,000 lm, 160 Wh) on 4–5 m, 12–18 m for pathways. Entrance boulevards of 9–10 m move to the LS-A110 (≈ 10,000 lm, 320 Wh) on 6–7 m every 25 m.

The energy balance is done on December and on the city: 2.99 kWh/m²/day in Casablanca, 2.85 in Rabat, 3.46 in Marrakech (PVGIS-SARAH2 2005-2020, JRC). Daily harvest = Wp × irradiation × 0.70–0.75 (system efficiency, an engineering assumption). Autonomy: up to 12 h per night, 3–5 days of reserve at the default profile; it depends on irradiation and on the dimming profile. The PIR raises the flux when a vehicle or pedestrian passes and the controller reduces it between 1 am and 5 am, following the programmed profile; the adaptive dimming NM 06.8.001 expects is confirmed model by model in the offer.

Two points specific to estates: shading from façades and street trees, which requires checking the panel's southern exposure during the visit, and the coast. Within one kilometre of the sea (Dar Bouazza, Bouznika, Mohammedia, Harhoura, Skhirat) we specify the IP66 coastal version with marine-grade coating — classes C4–C5 under LALOGO's engineering classification based on ISO 9223.

Which documents for the developer, the syndic and the commune?

For the developer: FR/AR/EN datasheets, layout plan with pole height and spacing, P3–P4 photometric study (IES/LDT files on request), declaration of conformity for the Cم marking (Law 24-09, Orders 2573-14 and 2574-14), LS-P6 pole drawings for the Moroccan fabricator. The pole is Moroccan-made (25 % safeguard duty on imported poles, HS 7308.90.10); the customs classification of the luminaire is confirmed by our forwarder. For the syndic: an operating manual in Arabic and French, the battery replacement procedure and profile settings with the IR remote. For the commune, in case of handover: the NM 06.8.001 file (in progress at LALOGO) and the documented NM EN 13201 class.

How does the purchase run?

With a developer, the order follows the servicing schedule: consultation on the master plan, quote in MAD per lot (luminaires, LS-B brackets, local poles), delivery by phase, commissioning before handover of the plots. With a syndic, the decision goes through the general meeting: we provide a solar versus grid comparison file using the method below, without any payback promise, and a quote per tranche to spread the investment. One caution: off-grid outdoor lighting does not replace the buildings' indoor emergency lighting, which stays on the grid.

Worked example: a 120-plot estate in Bouskoura

1,200 m of 7 m roads (class P3–P4), a 40-space visitor car park, two gates, stairwells in two apartment blocks. Layout: LS-A80 on Moroccan-made 6 m poles every 22 m, i.e. 1,200 ÷ 22 ≈ 55 intervals and 56 luminaires; 3 LS-A60 on 5 m for the car park; 4 LS-W50 wall lights at the gates and 12 LS-W50R in the stairwells; 20 LS-G50 bollards on the pillars of the central walkway.

December balance in Casablanca (2.99 kWh/m²/day): 80 Wp × 2.99 × 0.72 ≈ 172 Wh harvested per day for a 256 Wh battery; the default profile keeps the nightly draw below the harvest and preserves 3–5 days of reserve. Comparison method for the syndic's meeting: a grid-connected 60 W LED luminaire lit 4,200 h a year uses ≈ 252 kWh, i.e. ≈ 402 MAD a year at the 1.5958 MAD/kWh top low-voltage tranche; for 56 luminaires, ≈ 22,500 MAD a year of energy, before trench, cable, board and maintenance, which are site inputs. Solar removes that line; we never state a payback in years without those inputs.

Frequently asked questions

Which solar street light for a 7 m estate road?

The LS-A80: 150 W LED, ≈ 8,000 lm, 80 Wp panel, 256 Wh LiFePO4 battery, on a Moroccan-made 6 m pole every 20–25 m, for class P3–P4 (indicative NM EN 13201 selection). For lanes and the visitor car park, the LS-A60 (≈ 6,000 lm, 192 Wh) on 4–6 m every 15–20 m is enough. The photometric study confirms the spacing before the order.

Does the syndic really save the utility bill?

For outdoor lighting, yes: a solar street light draws nothing from the grid. Method: a grid-connected 60 W LED luminaire over 4,200 h/year uses ≈ 252 kWh, i.e. ≈ 402 MAD/year at ONEE's 1.5958 MAD/kWh top low-voltage tranche. Trench, cable, board and maintenance are site inputs; we promise no payback period without them.

Do wall lights and bollards need trenching or a connection?

No. The LS-W50 wall light (50 W, IP65, PIR detector or remote on the W50R version) and the LS-G50 bollard (50 W, IP65, PIR) are self-contained: panel, battery and LED in one body, fixed to a pillar, wall or façade without cable. They suit gates, stairwells, boundary walls and residence paths.

What happens if the roads are handed over to the commune?

The municipal technical department will ask for the same references as a public contract: documented NM EN 13201 class, NM 06.8.001 for the street light, NM EN 40-5 pole galvanised to NM ISO 1461, Cم marking. We advise equipping the roads with these documents from the start; LALOGO's NM 06.8.001 file is in progress and the other documents come with the offer.

Which version for a seafront residence?

The IP66 coastal version with marine-grade coating, for any site within one kilometre of the sea (classes C4–C5 under LALOGO's engineering classification based on ISO 9223: Dar Bouazza, Bouznika, Mohammedia, Harhoura, Skhirat, Tamaris). Salt-spray test report on request; stainless fasteners and hot-dip galvanised pole specified in the quote.
